The council would
emphasise on skills development and fostering entrepreneurship and innovation
ecosystem. The council, however, has not
addressed the critical issue of staffing government colleges and universities.
Numerous vacancies remain, and the resulting lack of teachers poses a
significant challenge to higher education in the state.
It called for
suggestions from the public to help it rebuild higher education in the State.
The initiatives signal a drive to align education with industry demands, enhance
graduate employability, and foster innovation.
Acknowledging the evolving demands of the job
market, the TGCHE proposes to bridge the gap between academic learning and
practical skills, ensuring graduates are ‘industry-ready’. The revised
curriculum will provide hands-on learning and industry-relevant knowledge. It also proposes to devise a new internship
programme to equip students with industry-aligned competencies.
Subject-specific committees will lead the syllabus revision process.
In a bid to foster
collaboration and inclusivity, the TGCHE is inviting suggestions from
academics, industry experts, students, and policymakers to inform wider reforms
within the higher education system. A dedicated Google form is made available
on the TGCHE website (www.tgche.ac.in) to facilitate this process.
The council said the new programme is aimed at
integrating technology and digital
transformation; strengthening research and development; introducing Faculty
Development Programmes.
