Acting on a tip, a
police team from the Anna Nagar police station carried out a search at
Karumbalai on Saturday. At that time, A Palpandiyan, 21, on seeing police,
tried to flee on a two-wheeler. Police
nabbed Palpandiyan and found 100g of ganja in 20 small packets in his
possession.
Based on information provided by Palpandiyan, police also arrested C
Namachivayam, 25, K Santhana Manikandan, 19, and P Arunpandi, 22.
Police said the
arrested men procured ganja in a large quantity from Varusanadu in Theni
district and were involved in dividing it into small packets for selling them
to schoolchildren.
Police registered
a case under sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act
and Juvenile Justice Act, and are investigating.
