The grower says, "The global garlic market is
currently highly competitive, with the main players being China, India, Spain,
and Egypt. While China remains the world's leading supplier, Egypt is gaining
ground this season. We face direct competition from India and Spain, which
usually enter the market around the same time as us. However, due to weather
problems and a reduction in crops in Spain, Egypt has overtaken Spain in the
garlic market. The high quality of the harvest and Egypt's reliable export
capabilities strengthen its presence on the world's major markets."
Key global markets are diverse and showing strong demand, Anthony adds.
"In the European Union, importers are increasingly sourcing from Egypt to
offset national deficits. North America continues to show a stable demand for
Egyptian garlic, fueled by health-conscious consumer trends. Latin American
markets also remain active, and Australia has shown a growing interest in fresh
and semi-processed garlic from Egypt. It
is important to note that the quality and size of Egyptian garlic this season
are particularly attractive to buyers in all these regions - significantly
better than in previous years. This plays an important role in stimulating
demand and boosting buyers' confidence in Egyptian supply." "Despite the competitive landscape, we are
well positioned to increase our market share in the future.
The outlook remains optimistic as long as we
continue supplying high-quality, good-sized garlic that meets the expectations
of a wide range of markets," Anthony concludes.
