The agreement, formalized on Thursday, (10 April
‘25) gives the BOC free access to customs operations. In return, the BOC is
tasked to manage seized goods, follow environmental policies and maintain
SBMA's facilities.
Signed by BOC
Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio and SBMA Chairman Eduardo Jose Aliño, the
agreement recognizes BOC's role in border protection, trade facilitation and
revenue collection. It also shows both parties' commitment to efficiency and
economic growth from operations in the port. Rubio expressed optimism that the partnership will result in increased
trade volumes, higher revenue collection and new investments.
Aliño said SBMA and BOC share the goal of
establishing a new and modern building for the Port of Subic to enhance
services and provide convenience for its stakeholders and clients.
Customs district collector Marlon Fritz Broto said
the partnership would give BOC an empowered and reliable framework which would
serve as the agency's guide in introducing changes to the port and planning for
its future.
