The Grand Hyatt Mumbai hosted
an exclusive ceremony to formally launch Turkon Line’s India Service. The
event, which was co-hosted with its local liner partner Poseidon Shipping
Agencies Pvt Ltd, a division of the prestigious Abrao Group, drew together more
than 250 distinguished guests, including officials from the Republic of
Turkey’s Consulate General and Commercial Attaché in Mumbai, port and customs
authorities, media representatives, and important logistics industry
stakeholders.
Turkon
Line hopes to create a robust logistics link between Turkey, India, and other
countries with this calculated expansion. The new service, which operates under
the Türkiye–Red Sea–India (TRI) route, serves as a crucial conduit between
Turkon Line’s extensive network in the Americas, Europe, the Mediterranean, and
the Middle East, and India’s expanding market.
Launched in February 2025, the
TRI service is currently operating with four vessels and is expected to expand
to five vessels by June 2025. The route offers the fastest transit time between
Türkiye and India via the Suez Canal and Red Sea, calling at Nhava Sheva and
Mundra ports in India, and includes rail connections to strategic inland
destinations in northern India.
The
new service also supports Turkon Line’s sustainability vision. In 2025, the
company will add two newly built, multi-fuel vessels with a capacity of 4,000
TEU to its fleet. These eco-friendly, high-tech vessels, built at the group’s
own Sedef Shipyard, will boost the company’s total capacity by over 50%.
The launch of the India
Service marks a significant milestone in Turkon Line’s eastward expansion
strategy as the company continues its growth on a global scale.
