Manufacturing
Manufacturing is a process; it means it
has to take into account the end product, the cost of production and attendant
tasks of marketing and finance; in other words, business ultimately leads to
some sort of manufacturing of products. Even for a mere seller of products
there must be manufacturers to provide him with products. In the final
analysis, all activities, simple and serious, are interrelated towards a common
goal: business and bottom line.
Of
course, today environmentalists claim attention and there are active environmentalists’
organizations that do not encourage any business activity or endeavour that
brings harm to human health and welfare. In a way, Green marketing is a
powerful expression of environmental concern.
Perhaps you might have heard of ethical
manufacturing. It only means
manufacturing must be undertaken in such a way that the process of
manufacturing does not bring harm to man.
A
good and popular example is plastic pollution.
Endless number of examples you can find
if you look around carefully with focus on ethical manufacturing. Adulteration
seems to have come to stay at least with some small sections of the society
since they seem to appear bent upon making fast money and not fair money. There are very efficient people who make fast
money in a fair way. Ultimately, it is your attitude to life in general and to
money in particular that decides whether you earn your money fast and fair or
otherwise. Let us not go into those aspects of money-earning but focus on
manufacturing.
Possibly, you are now aware of the fact
that the so-called pandemic and the recent Russia’s invasion of Ukraine have
resulted in what is called disruptions in supply chain. That is, manufacturing
per se is thwarted.
Supply chain disruption is a major cause
for any financial distress; it may be less profit , luckily, or more loss ,
unluckily, business breakdown and even closure of commercial concerns.Unwanted
and unwelcome disasters.
We
will discuss briefly the causes of supply chain disruptions and consequences. But one thing: everything depends upon the
process called manufacturing. You can
manufacture a plough to produce finally products that sustain man or your
country can manufacture intercontinental ballistic missiles to protect the
country or to threaten the enemies.
Almost all social activities do include some
form of manufacturing of something or other.
Manufacturing is universal and ever present. Omnipresent therefore
Omnipotent.
